Youth Road Safety Education (YRSE) was formed in 2026 with one purpose: to prepare young people for the risks they will soon face for the first time on their own.

We are a UK not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and the organisation behind DriverReady and E-Mobility Education. Both programmes are built for school delivery by teachers, during normal class time.

YRSE was not created to add another one-off road safety talk. We wanted young people to have time to understand why difficult situations develop, learn practical strategies, practise how those strategies could work and make plans they believe they can use.

Our starting point is that young people are capable of reaching safer conclusions when the information is credible, the reasoning is explained and they have an active role in the learning. Being told “do not do this” is very different from understanding what can change a decision under pressure and deciding in advance how to respond.

We also wanted the programmes to work for the people teaching them. Our DriverReady and E-Mobility Education programmes include prepared lessons, online teacher accreditation and a managed system for enrolment, quizzes, surveys, emails, completion and reporting. Teachers can concentrate on their students and the classroom conversation.

YRSE licenses the BRAKE Driver Awareness Programme from Australia. BRAKE began in 2006 and has been delivered in Australian high schools for 20 years. More than 90,000 students across more than 200 schools have completed the programme, supported by accredited teachers and a purpose-built online delivery system.

YRSE may be a new UK organisation, but the programme, school delivery model and system behind it are established. Our role is to bring that foundation to UK students and adapt it properly for English law, roads, licensing, official data and curriculum context.

Our work is now focused on making that education available to young people across the UK. Schools provide teachers and classroom time. Councils, road safety partnerships, businesses and government organisations can help remove cost as a barrier, respond to local priorities and extend access across communities.

YRSE is here because preparation should begin before a young person faces these decisions alone. We have built the programmes, the teacher support and the delivery system to make that preparation possible in everyday classrooms.
